I think the worst part about the contest was deciding what to draw. Fan art that is not derivative of the work?
Some research into the legend the characters of Okami came from gave me the inspiration that I needed for the image. (The inspiration to enter was there from the beginning -- getting to play with watercolors again.
Amaterasu Omikami emerges from the cavern where she had sealed herself to see herself in the mirror that the gods hung in a tree as Tajikara-O waits to push the rock into place once she's in the open.
